TARIK FRIMPONG

About Tarik

Tarik Frimpong is a multi-disciplinary artist.

Growing up in Melbourne, Australia, his career has seen him travel the globe working as both a performer and creative.

Tarik is currently performing as Clyde McPhatter, Lover Patterson & others in the UK & Ireland tour of the Olivier Award nominated musical:
The Drifters Girl.

Tarik’s acting career knows no bounds; appearing as ‘Angus’ in Disney feature film Mary Poppins Returns (Nominated for Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy at the Golden Globes.) He has appeared in West End productions such as Aladdin and Australian productions such as; Bring It On and The Lion King. In 2022 Tarik completed a critically acclaimed run as the Scarecrow, in the UK Revival of The Wiz. He was nominated for a Black British Theatre Award (Best Male Actor in a Musical) for his portrayal of this role.

In the last couple of years Tarik has established himself as an exciting, up and coming Choreographer and Director. Tarik is currently working as the Associate Choreographer on the West End premiere of the Pulitzer prize winning musical A Strange Loop (Barbican). He recently finished choreographing the critically acclaimed, Australian premiere of Choir Boy - whilst also working as Assistant Director on the European theatrical premiere of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella (Hope Mill Theatre).

As a dancer, Tarik has appeared in music videos and performed live with artists such as; Justin Bieber, FKA Twigs, Aston Merrygold, Kwaye, and Keala Settle. He has also danced on shows such as; Graham Norton, X Factor (Australia), Dancing With The Stars (Australia), The Masked Singer (Australia) and The Weekly (ABC).

In 2020 Tarik founded the Artist Of Colour Initiative (AOC). A musical theatre scholarship program, that provides financial assistance and industry support to exceptionally talented theatre performers based in Australia, that identify as Bla(c)k, Indigenous and/or as People Of Colour. In 2020 alone, AOC raised over 30,000 AUD in financial assistance and over 120,000 AUD in scholarships.

Tarik is represented by BBA Management in the UK, and Hansen Management in Australia. He is also a proud member of Equity.
